Share your experience

Lived experience shapes our information and advocacy work. Learn what kinds of experiences we are seeking, how contributions may be used, and how consent works before you share.

Lived experience is evidence. What people describe about being diagnosed, waiting for treatment, travelling for care, or caring for someone shapes the Foundation's information and advocacy work — it shows where the system helps, and where it fails.

This page explains what we are looking for, how contributions may be used, and how consent works, before you send anything.

What kinds of experiences we are seeking

  • Being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and what the process was like.
  • Waiting for tests, results, or treatment — and what helped or did not.
  • Travelling for care, including costs and logistics.
  • Caring for someone with pancreatic cancer.
  • Experiences after bereavement, where sharing them may help others or improve care.

How your experience may be used

With your permission, contributions may inform the Foundation's guides and resources, appear in advocacy and awareness materials, or be quoted — in whole or in part — on this website or in the Foundation's publications. We may shorten a contribution for length or clarity; we will not change its meaning.

Nothing you send will be published with your name unless you explicitly agree to that. You can ask for your contribution to be anonymous, and you can withdraw permission at any time by emailing us — we will remove it from materials we control.

How to share

Email support@heathercutler.ca with the subject line "Sharing my experience." Tell us, in your own words, what happened and what you would want others — patients, families, or the health system — to understand from it.

We read every message. Because the Foundation is volunteer-led, replies may take time, and we may not be able to respond to every submission individually.

What not to send

  • Do not send medical records, test results, or scan images.
  • Do not include identifying information about other people — including clinicians — without their permission.
  • Do not use this route to ask for medical help or advice. This is not a support service, and submissions are not monitored for urgent needs.

If you need support, information, or help finding services, please use our contact page or the patient resources instead. If something on this website is wrong, a correction can be sent through our corrections process.
